Founded by Robert James in 2019, a talented Anglo-Italian blues musician, BLUESHIGHWAY.IT is dedicated to promoting blues music throughout Italy.
What began as a Facebook group of over 2,700 members has grown into a movement, creating platforms for bands to gain visibility, from small local groups to international stars.
In 2021, BLUES HIGHWAY expanded its mission, welcoming blues bands from around the world, offering broader opportunities for Italian musicians to share their music globally.
This initiative has helped break down barriers, allowing artists to have their music and albums broadcasted internationally.

In 2020, BLUES HIGHWAY launched its first festival at the Arena Del Mare in Salerno, giving Italian bands a dedicated stage to showcase their talent.
This milestone event marked the beginning of a larger commitment to bring the blues to life through festivals and radio opportunities worldwide.
The blues originated in the Deep South of the United States around the 1860s, deeply rooted in African-American traditions.
Initially, it was characterized by simple ballads, heartfelt lyrics, and a call-and-response style derived from African spirituals.
The AAB structure—singing one line over four bars, repeating it, and concluding with a longer third line—became the foundation of modern blues.
